Rebekah Ridener: The Woman Behind the Lens
I have been in the production field since I was 13 years old in the form of my school’s news show. By the time I was 16, I was in charge of my church’s technical and sound booth, which I still voluntarily do to this day.
I received my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Media Communication from Asbury University. During my time at Asbury, I was a production internship with the news station, WLEX18. At the internship, I operated cameras, audio, master control, and graphics during live news shows. I have also learned how to trim commercials for air and how a news station operates on a daily basis. Aside from my internship, I was a camera operator during some of the chapel services. I worked with the yearbook team in finalizing past years' yearbooks, and I directed the school's newspaper's, the Asbury Collegian, Facebook Live Broadcast of Election Night 2016.
My current full time position is a technical director a weekday morning news show, although I am trained also as a camera operator and audio operator. The fast pace of the news shows are exciting and I have learned even more on how to create a great product while under pressure.
Besides working in a studio, I love to work on my car, take photographs of people and nature, and hang out with my friends. I have traveled to France, Spain, Canada, and the 48 continental United States all before I turned 21 years old. I love traveling, and I plan to raise a family who loves to travel too. For now, I have been repairing computers for a living for the past two years as I get my degree from Asbury University.
